The Northeastern family is profoundly saddened by the widespread devastation in Japan. In addition to the hundreds of thousands of people who are suffering directly, this tragedy touches many of our students, faculty, staff and alumni. Counseling and other resources are available to help any member of the Northeastern community in need of assistance during this difficult time.

As we have in the past, our campus is uniting to assist those who are impacted by this disaster. The Japanese Cultural Club, a Northeastern student organization, is helping to coordinate relief efforts on our campus. They will join me at a vigil in the Sacred Space (2nd floor of Ell Hall) this Friday, March 18 at 12 noon. I hope you can attend this gathering, where we will come together in common cause and draw strength from one another.

As events continue to unfold in Japan, please keep those who have been affected by this immense tragedy in your thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,

Joseph E. Aoun
President
