Dear Colleagues:

Like all families whose members are spread out around the world, the Northeastern family looks forward every year to spending time together. For the next three days, we will gather for our annual “Parent and Family Weekend” to reconnect, share, learn, and create new memories.

I invite our students to welcome their families to campus for a weekend of events showcasing the innovation and excellence that define our university. Whether it’s fun-filled activities or thoughtful discussions about research, I encourage everyone to take full advantage of all that this weekend offers.

Two events are worth noting as we mark the centennial year of co-op: the Deans’ Breakfasts on Saturday morning, and the “Celebrating a Century of Cooperative Education” breakfast on Sunday morning in International Village, our newest residence hall. There will be other events that highlight “Global Experience,” which is a galvanizing theme for us this year.

To the students in particular: Your parents often tell me they’d rather not leave after seeing our beautiful campus. You can tell them that if they want to stay at the end of this weekend they will have to apply through our admissions office!

I look forward to seeing you this weekend.

Very truly yours,
Joseph E. Aoun
