To the Northeastern Community:

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Diane Nishigaya MacGillivray as Northeastern University’s new Senior Vice President for Institutional Advancement. Diane joins us from the University of Southern California (USC), where she is the Senior Associate Dean for Advancement in the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences.

In her new role, Diane will lead Northeastern’s efforts to build strong relationships with alumni, corporations, foundations, friends, and partners. She will work closely with the deans to develop and execute fund raising strategies for the schools and colleges and will manage the university’s efforts in planned giving and major gifts. Diane will oversee the entire advancement operation, which includes the offices of alumni relations, development, corporate partners, and corporations and foundations.

Diane’s prior experience and accomplishments leave her exceptionally well suited for this role. At USC
Diane directs the College’s ongoing $400 million Tradition & Innovation fundraising initiative. She oversaw the development of the College’s annual giving society, parents program, regional Orange County board and international fundraising effort. She also established endowment funding for USC’s Korean Studies Institute and Institute for Armenian Studies and led the integration of the Shoah Foundation’s fundraising operation when it moved to the university in 2005.

Diane holds a bachelor’s degree from Boston University and a master’s in 19th century British history from USC. She will join us on July 1.

In the interim, George Triantaris will continue overseeing the unit as Interim Senior Vice President. I want to publicly acknowledge and thank George for the superb job he has done over the past eight months in this role. He successfully guided the unit through reorganization while helping me to learn about our advancement operation and establish contact with our most important alumni and friends. George’s dedication, strong work ethic, and professionalism are great assets to Northeastern.
